Wasatch Mountain Bike Team

BE A RIDE LEADER

RIDE LEADERS ARE THE KEY TO A SUCCESSFUL TEAM

Our practices aren’t contained within painted lines on a field or a court like other sports. Our playground is the mountains...and we have over 200 athletes on our team. We can’t have a successful or safe practice without A LOT of help.

WE NEED RIDE LEADERS OF EVERY SKILL LEVEL AND ABILITY

We are looking for Ride Leaders who can ride with our fastest kids, our slowest kids, and every one in between. Even if you are new to mountain biking but want to help, we will get you trained and ready to lead!

PRACTICE GROUPS

Our governing bodies, NICA and the Utah League, require us to have at least one Ride Leader for every six riders. Riders and Ride Leaders will be assigned to ride groups based on ambition, skill, and speed. We will need Ride Leaders for both the DEVO Team (grades 7-8) and the High School Team (grades 9-12). We reserve the right to limit the size of our teams based on how many Ride Leaders commit to helping us each year. We will cancel a practice if we can’t meet the required ratio for that practice. Even if you are only able to help once a week, or every other week – we need you!

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A RIDE LEADER

  • You must be 18+ years old
  • Be certified as a Level 2 Coach through NICA/ Utah League prior to June 1 of each year.
  • Be enthusiastic about mountain biking and helping kids learn to ride well.
  • Attend two practices per week June thru October (we are flexible when you can’t make the occasional practice).
